Team Parent Duties:
Schedule parents to concession stand duty: During regular season. Home games only, usually one parent 1st half / another parent 2nd half. This seems to work out best. If the parent cannot work the time an date you designate to them you explain it is their responsibility to make arrangements to change it. Schedule of the home games and which parents will be scheduled to duty should be posted in the concession stand by your first home game of the season. (U10-U19 teams only)
Make sure coach has a medical release form and copy of birth certificate for each player: If the coach doesn't have a medical release form or copy of birth cetificate for a player you will need to get one. You can get a form on line here or ask to have one brought to your practice, by calling the league number 706-353-2241, so the parent can fill it out and the coach will then have one. (All teams)
Contact the AUSA administrator, Denise @ 706-353-2241 with information of your coach's address, phone numbers, email address, times of practice, place of practice, we will also need this information on team parent. We will need this for our records and to send to the state. (All teams)
Make sure coach has player passes for each player if applicable. If the coach doesn't have a player pass for a player you will need to contact the registrar and ask to have one sent. Please contact office 706-353-2241 or see contact inforamiton. This applies for all select/ academy/ and recreational teams U10 and up. This also applies for tournament only passes. Contact opposing coaches: During regular season the opposing coach should be contacted a day or so before the game to verify there will be a game. Also to get specific directions to the game site. This includes when weather is questionable. Team parent calls the opposing coach checking if their fields are going to be closed, also if our fields are closed due to weather they call the opposing coach to inform them of the situation. Call the weather line 706-353-2241 or check the website for updates on fields or check the web site (All teams)
Make car pool arrangements: When traveling out of town, make arrangements to meet somewhere in the direction of the game site. This way players who do not have a ride will be able to ride with someone else. Also, make arrangements when to meet after the game so the kids will be picked up at an approximate time. This keeps someone from having to wait around too long after a long ride.(U10-U19, no player is allowed to drive themselves to any away game)
Make sure someone waits around after practice & games: Sometimes parents are late picking up players. Players should never be left at a field alone. If one person who is always at practice could stay to be sure all players have been picked up this would help you out a lot. (All teams)
Get game schedules to each player: Game Schedules can be downloaded from the gasoccer.org web site for select and U12 - U18 recreational teams. U06-U10 recreational teams coaches receive their schedule at a coaches meeting or by email. This will give the team parent time to make arrangements to reschedule games if necessary.(All teams)
Rescheduling home games: The quicker you know which home games that may need to be rescheduled due to conflicts the better. The process for a home game is: contact the general manger first (see contact info) ask for a time, day, and field that the game could be rescheduled. Get as many options as possible. Then call the opposing coach inform them you will not be able to play on the specific day give the coach alternative dates and times. They should get back to you within a reasonable time. If not, you will need to get in touch with them again. If the game is not a home game you will need to contact the opposing coach. The opposing coach will need to do the process in reverse order. If they do not get back in touch with you, coninue to pursue the matter. (All teams)
Inputing the game score for U13 - U19 Select: Input the score at http://www.gs.affinitysoccer.com/tour/public/info/tournamentlist.asp?sessionguid=§ion=gaming. Team managers need to report if there were any cards, injuries, or incidents during the game. This is important because this is how the state keeps up with red cards, yellow cards, send offs, injuries, and the score, making sure the winner is indicted. Standings of each team will be posted on the GYSA web site.
All handouts: The coach should only contact one person (team parent) to let them know what they would like the team to know. The team parent gets information to all the other parents in the manner they feel is appropriate. This could be a telephone tree (which they set up) mailing, handouts, or emailings. (Which may be easiest) This information would also include canceled practices because of weather. (All teams)
Fields Closed: The team parent calls the weather line 706-353-2241 when in doubt to check on weather or conditions of fields or web site. For Saturday home games call weather line after 7:30 AM to get message if the fields are closed. If there is no message stating the fields are closed then the games will be played or tried to be played as scheduled. AUSA Administrator will call team managers if games are cancelled that morning. Please contact the opposing coach to inform them of situation. (All teams)
Water at Fields: A lot of coaches like the team parent to bring a cooler of water to the fields during a game. This way when players forget their water bottles, they have something to drink during the game and so they do not get dehydrated. The water cooler can be obtained by contacting the general manager (see contact info) this again, is optional. (All teams)
After game drinks: This is usually for the younger teams. The team parent sets up schedules for the parents to provide after game drinks and possibly snacks. It is entirely up to the team parent if they want to provide this service. This seems like a lot, but once this is put together you will see it runs very smooth and you will not have to worry about it once the season is in full swing. I will be happy to help anyone out if they need it. Please, if you have a question, do not hesitate to call. Denise 706-353-2241. She will be happy to answer your questions or help in any way she can.
